Liverpool booked their place in last 16 of the Champions League tonight with a 1-0 win over Italian side Napoli at Anfield.

Anfield was once again rocking for a big European night and Mohamed Salah gave the home fans exactly what they wanted in the 34th minute when he continued his excellent recent form with a tidy finish.

Despite Liverpool being the better team throughout and spurning several excellent chances to put the game to bed, £67 million goalkeeper Allison was the toast of Anfield upon the final whistle after his superb late save denied Napoli attacker Arkadiusz Milik.

Speaking after the game Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that he could not be any prouder of his team.

“Wow, what a game. I am not sure a manager could be prouder of a team than I am. The only good thing about the first game at Napoli was that we were our ugly brothers and it wasn’t us at all.’’ Klopp told BT Sport.

‘’Today, we had an opportunity to show more than we did in Italy and the boys played an outstanding game. The way we pressed them meant they had to change their game and they had no real key for us.”
