Klopp praises Salah’s defensive work and is confident goals will come for Egyptian star

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was a topic of conversation for Reds’ boss, Jurgen Klopp, today at Melwood.

Klopp was asked if he had any concerns over Salah’s early-season form. Salah has two goals and one assist to his name after starting Liverpool’s first five league games, this season.

“Salah is really ready to work for the team and it is a normal situation to have times where you don’t score,”

“He had fantastic and defensive situations in both games. He is in great shape and finishing is something you can’t take for granted.”

After a good first half against PSG, Salah seemed to struggle after the break on Tuesday night and, indeed, could be held accountable for PSG’s equaliser when Kylian Mbappe made it 2-2 at Anfield after the Egypt international lost possession, in midfield.

”With Mo, everything is fine. He lost the ball before the second goal but it was a very intense game.

“He is just taking his time this year, just like he did last season.”

If Salah starts against Southampton, he will be more than eager to get back among the goals and help his team to maintain their 100% start to the season. For now, however, he certainly seems to have the backing of Jurgen Klopp.
