Liverpool fans got their first glimpse of their two new big money midfielders Naby Keita and Fabinho on Saturday, when the Anfield outfit romped to a 7-0 friendly victory over Chester.
Both players made their Reds debut in the routine win, and Jurgen Klopp interestingly stated afterwards that he thinks it might take Brazilian Fabinho, who was signed from French side Monaco, a little longer to adjust to his high intensity style of play than it will for Keita who played a similar style of play with his former club RB Leipzig.
“Quality. It’s all good,” Klopp said in the post match press conference.
“You saw Naby comes from Leipzig and knows the football philosophy as it’s a similar one.
“He’s very sharp in the challenges, very quick in mind in these situations of counter-pressing, his impulses look kind of natural, which is good.
“Monaco played a completely different style, so Fabinho probably needs a few more days.
“But he’s a fantastic football player, a good passer, his challenges are good, a proper defensive midfielder with the option of being a number eight as well.
“If you want to be a part of our squad then you need to be good and these two boys are.”
