Klopp: If we win 38 games a year 1-0 I’ll take it

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will gladly take his team winning 1-0 every week if it means they can get their hands on the Premier League trophy in May.

The Reds have made their best ever start to a Premier League season, remaining unbeaten and sitting joint top of the table with last year’s champions Man City on 26 points after 10 games.

Klopp’s teams have always been renowned for their attacking intent, but this season the side’s main strength has been their defensive resolve with the Anfield outfit having conceded just four top flight goals.

Liverpool’s new found strength at the back has lead to some fans and pundits suggesting that the Reds have had to forsake some of their attacking brilliance, although Klopp has insisted that his side are still making plenty of chances and that he is perfectly happy to see his side eke out narrow victories if needs be.

“We create a lot of chances apart from the Napoli and Manchester City game where there were not a lot of chances,’’ Klopp told his pre-match press conference.

“But we have created, we only didn’t score so I wasn’t really too bothered as long as you create.

“You shouldn’t be in doubt, players don’t change, they are the same boys and there’s always a chance to improve. But there can be a few drops [in form], that’s how football is but we will create chances and we will have the chance to score, but if we win 38 times a year 1-0 I’ll take it.”

Liverpool travel to the Emirates on Saturday evening to face Unai Emery’s in-form Arsenal side in what promises to be an intriguing encounter.
