Klopp slams fixture congestion, confirms Henderson and Keita will miss Arsenal clash

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will be without his club captain Jordan Henderson and £52 million midfielder Naby Keita for his side’s trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal tomorrow evening.

Klopp revealed that both player’s injuries are not serious and will only keep them out of action for a few weeks, although he did take the chance to have a pop at the amount of games top flight sides have to play.

“In football not too serious [injuries] still takes two, three, even four weeks so they were lucky they have injuries like that because in the Premier League it means they only miss 20 games,” Klopp pointedly told his pre-match press conference.

“They are in the time we expected, we didn’t have to rush there was no reason for trying to get them ready.”

For the second week in a row Liverpool will know that victory on Saturday will see them take top spot in the Premier League table — even if Pep Guardiola’s Man City side will be expected to finish the weekend as league leaders after they face a struggling Southampton side at the Etihad on Sunday.
