Jurgen Klopp insists that Liverpool’s early FA Cup exit does not give them an advantage in the Premier League title race.
Reds manager Klopp also discussed his current lack of options at centre-back, with Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez currently struggling for fitness.
“We will see it. I don’t know. It’s quite special to have three centre-halves in the same moment. Bad luck, eh? That makes it quite tricky but we have to use our situation.’’ Klopp told his Friday press conference.
“If we could be in another situation now with more [FA Cup] games, then what is it? We have the Champions League at the start of February. Other teams have other games. We can deal with it and they can deal with it.”
Klopp maintained that there was no obvious benefit to Liverpool having fewer games due to being out of the FA Cup.
“There’s no advantage. You can do a lot of wrong things when you have a week to train. That is possible. We have to use the time and understand the challenge right.”
The Reds travel to play Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday in what could be a very tricky fixture for Klopp and his team. They will be looking to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table over Man City.
Klopp also discussed youngster Rafa Camacho and said the versatile 18-year-old Portuguese youth international will not be leaving the club this month.
