Klopp hopes Liverpools ‘attitude and desire’ will overcome Real Madrid

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not concerned by the gulf in experience between his team and their opponents Real Madrid ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final.

Zinedine Zidane’s side will be aiming to win their third consecutive Champions League final in Kiev on Saturday evening, with relatively the same group of players who have triumphed in Europe’s most prestigious cup competition over the previous couple of seasons.

Liverpool do not have a single player in their squad who has ever been in the final of the Champions League, but Klopp reckons there are ways to overcome his sides lack of experience.

“It’s a fact that Real Madrid is more experienced. If only there was an experience market they could sell it and be more rich,” Klopp said.

“It’s important to have experience in life, in football, but you can level it.

“We haven’t been together as long as them. As a group they are very strong, they’ve won it for the two previous years with the same team but this is football, we have a chance, let’s go there and try.

“It’s an advantage to be more experienced but you can level it with desire and attitude. That’s what I love in football.

“We have our own experience. So that’s good as well. We are not as long together as Real Madrid.

“They not only won the last two – they played these finals with the same team.

“As a group – they are very strong. That’s all fact.

“But it’s still football. We have a chance. So let’s give it a try.

“Let’s go there and try to perform on a level which may be, people will say is not possible. But it is possible.”
