Klopp hails ‘sensational’ Liverpool after Watford rout

Jurgen Klopp has praised his Liverpool side after snapping a two-game winless run with a stirring 5-0 victory over a usually solid Watford team.

After not scoring in consecutive games there were concerns that the Reds’ forward line was beginning to dry up, but those fears were dispelled in ruthless fashion on Wednesday night.

Watford, in the middle of their best ever season in the Premier League, were the unfortunate targets for Liverpool to take out their recent frustrations, conceding a first-half brace from Sadio Mane before Divock Origi and two goals from Virgil Van Dijk turned the contest into a rout after the interval.

Speaking after the game, Klopp was quick to make light of his sides recent troubles before urging fans and players alike to revel in the season while it lasts.

“We drew against Manchester United and Bayern Munich. I think most teams would wish they had these problems,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

“Tonight we were sensational. It was really good football. I am not aware of the noise from outside. I get it from press conferences. The journalists in Liverpool are very passionate!

“We have 69 points. We could have had 75 that’s possible. But we are playing a really good season. Let’s enjoy the ride and see as far as it takes us.”

Liverpool remain on top of the table, one point ahead of Man City who defeated West Ham United 1-0 on Wednesday night.
