Salah celebrates his match winner against Brighton

Klopp hails ‘brilliant’ Salah after vital Brighton win

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with Mohamed Salah’s brilliant performance at Brighton in The Reds’ 1-0 win today.

Salah scored the only goal of the game after winning the penalty himself early in the second half. Klopp was very happy with how Liverpool’s Egyptian striker had caused enough trouble in the home team’s penalty area to win the spot-kick.

‘It was a brilliant situation. It makes sense for a striker to go dribbling in the box because it’s difficult for the defender to defend it clear. He was in a brilliant position in that moment – if he could shoot, for sure it was a big chance as well. That’s cool.’ Klopp told the post-match press conference.

‘Sadio had moments, Bobby always. We speak about maturity after the 1-0 but how they defend then, if you see it in their face – how Bobby is talking to everybody, bringing Sadio into position and all that – that’s the massive difference. That’s really cool. The boys worked really hard and deserved these three points, I think, absolutely.’

The win puts Liverpool seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table with Spurs lurking just two points further back.
