Jurgen Klopp has given the ‘green light’ for Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to complete a move to Saudi side Al Ettifaq.
Henderson has received a proposal to link up with former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard at Al Ettifaq, following Gerrard’s appointment as head coach.
The 33-year-old has been offered a three-year deal that would quadruple his Liverpool wages and Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Henderson has accepted the deal and is open to the move.
Henderson held talks with Jurgen Klopp today to discuss his future and the Liverpool manager has given the green light to the deal. However, Al Ettifaq will need to reach an agreement with Liverpool on a fee given Henderson is contracted until 2025.
The news comes amid reports that Al-Ittihad are set to submit a £40m bid to sign Fabinho. A decison is expected to be made quickly on Fabinho’s future as Liverpool’s rebuild in midfield continues.
The Reds have already seen James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain depart on free transfers, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have been brought in.
