Klopp calls on Liverpool to be more clinical ahead of Southampton clash

At Melwood, today, Jurgen Klopp had his pre-Southampton press conference. It has been a hectic week for the German manager and his team after their helter-skelter clash with PSG on Tuesday night.

Liverpool had to depend on an injury-time winner from Roberto ‘Bobby’ Firmino to beat the French champions and Klopp is aware of the need for his side to be more clinical in front of goal.

โ€œWe have no lack of confidence at the moment,โ€ he told the reporters who were present.

โ€œWe were a bit lucky that Bobby decided the game [against PSG]. It was deserved, but thatโ€™s not a sign for anything. It happened.

โ€œWe have to make sure that we decide games much more often. The next one is the most difficult.โ€

Much concern was raised after Liverpool’s wastefulness in front of goal at Spurs last weekend and Jurgen Klopp is intent on putting it right. Sadio Mane has started the season brilliantly with Bobby Firmino’s level of performance also greatly improving in Liverpool’s most recent games.

Last season’s star man, Mohamed Salah, is yet to really click into gear, though, and Klopp will be at pains to ensure his Reds share the goalscoring burden around so the responsibility doesn’t fall solely at the feet of his front trio.
