Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called for a ‘review’ of the Premier League’s transfer window.
The transfer deadline for English clubs shut on August 8, the eve before the beginning of the new Premier League season.
The window for European clubs remains open however, with clubs on the continent still able to purchase players from England up until September 2.
The current deadlines mean English clubs are at risk of losing players without the possibility of replacing them, and Klopp believes the deadline should be reviewed to fall in line with Europe’s other major leagues.
“I don’t care when the transfer window closes, so long as it’s at the same time,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.
“I agreed when the Premier League closed it early but if the rest keep it open, what is the advantage for the Premier League.
“Some top players are still kind of on the market.
“We aren’t really involved in it, it’s not a problem for us. But it is for other clubs.
“Why can we not review it? We can change it again.”
