Klopp calls for a ‘consistent’ Liverpool performance against Spurs

Jurgen Klopp has called on his Liverpool side to deliver a ‘consistent’ performance as he prepares to face Tottenham in the Champions League final.

Liverpool will meet their Premier League rivals in Madrid this weekend, looking to be crowned champions of Europe for the sixth time in the club’s history.

Klopp’s side are in their second successive showpiece of Europe’s premier competition, having suffered defeat to Real Madrid in last season’s final in Kiev.

The German admits his side have adapted and improved this season, leading to a record Premier League points total, and called on his side to deliver another ‘consistent’ performance as they bid to win Europe’s biggest prize.

”The boys performed in last season’s final against clear favourites, but last year we surprised ourselves by being in the final,” Klopp said in his final pre-match press conference.

“We were always flying at home but really under pressure at Manchester City, at Roma, that’s the main thing we had to develop in our approach, our tactics, how to behave in different situations but you don’t want to kill your skills.

“We still have fantastic football games, the boys made this step – that’s the reason for 97 points, they’ve been really consistent and tomorrow we should be consistent again.”
