Jurgen Klopp today insisted that Brighton are ‘just a good team’ ahead of Liverpool’s trip to the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Chris Hughton has done an excellent job since taking charge of The Seagulls and this season he will be looking to progress again by finishing higher than the 15th place they managed in 2017/18.
Klopp acknowledged the great job Hughton and his staff are doing with a very limited transfer budget to work with.
“It’s really difficult in the Premier League to be in the position they are in and not have the money,” said Klopp.
“[Lewis] Dunk and [Shane] Duffy are outstanding centre-halves. [Davy] Propper is playing his best season in England is a good pairing with [Dale] Stephens.
“It is just a good team. They are in the shadow of all other teams but then you think ‘oh right, we could have had this player as well,”
“We have to make life as difficult as possible for Brighton and will try everything to win that game.”
Brighton are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions while The Reds have hit what they will be hoping is just a minor blip of two defeats in a row – at Manchester City in the league and away to Wolves in the FA Cup.
