Cesar Azpilicueta has said that Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga will continue to improve to be a ‘top goalkeeper’.
Chelsea were linked with a whole host of goalkeepers throughout the summer as they desperately sought a replacement for Thibaut Courtois, who was being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Courtois was being prevented from returning to the Spanish capital until the Blues had found a replacement, and that replacement was eventually found with less than 48 hours of the transfer window remaining when news broke that the had agreed to pay a world record fee for a goalkeeper to sign the young Spaniard from Atheltic Bilbao.
Kepa has started all four of Chelsea’s Premier League games to date, with Maurizio Sarri’s side just one of three sides to still have a 100% record intact, and fellow Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta has been singing the praises of his new teammate.
“He is a young goalkeeper, a top man, and I know him very well from the national team,” Azpilicueta told Goal.
“He is very talented and has a great personality, and I think he can only go upwards.
“He will continue to improve, he has a lot of his career ahead of him and I became very happy when he signed up for us, because he can add a lot to this team. He can play with his feet, he can handle and control the backline and he is very smooth and mobile on the line.
“I think he has all the attributes to be a top goalkeeper.”
