Manchester United’s defeat to Derby County is the biggest shock in the clubs history according to Martin Keown.
It has been a pretty dire start to the season for Manchester United side who have lost two and drawn one of their opening six Premier League games this season, and now find themselves out of the carabao Cup after being knocked out on penalties against Frank Lampard’s Derby County.
United manager Jose Mourinho has faced plenty of criticism in recent months, and in the wake of this latest humiliation, that is likely to go away, with Arsenal legend Martin Keown being one of the first to stick the knife in:
“Mourinho said the pundits on the sofa have got too much to say. One of them, Frank Lampard, has proved him wrong today. It’s a great scalp,” Keown told the BBC.
“This was a really good Man Utd team and I can’t think of a bigger shock in their history. Mourinho tried to go for it tonight and he’ll be hurting in the dressing room.”
While the result at Old Trafford is somewhat of a shocker, to call it the biggest shock in the clubs history might be a but of a stretch. Anyone remember the 4-0 defeat to MK Dons?
