Keown: Arsenal’s attacking football under Emery reminiscent of Wenger era

Martin Keown believes that Arsenal are playing a style of football similar to that enjoyed by the fans at the height of the Arsene Wenger era.

The former Arsenal and England defender says that new boss Unai Emery has his team playing – and winning – in an entertaining way, which is sure to be pleasing the Gunners faithful.

“Their attacking football bears all the hallmarks of Arsene Wenger,”  Keown says in the Daily Mail, adding, “What Unai Emery is doing is getting the team to dig deeper in a way Wenger was not able to at the end of his tenure.”

”There has been a pattern emerging in Arsenal’s recent games. They fell behind at Leicester having conceded an equaliser to Fulham before the international break. It’s as if they need a shock to jolt them into gear. Now I want to see even more from their two strikers.”

Arsenal won 1-0 at Sporting in the Europa League, last night, making it 11 consecutive wins in all competitions.

The Gunners travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, while next week Emery will have the opportunity to rest and rotate some players as they welcome Blackpool to North London in the Carabao Cup.
