Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is reportedly targetting Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe in the January transfer market.
The Magpies have been pretty goal shy this season, netting just 15 goals in the Premier League in their opening 20 games, with Salomon Rondon scoring five of those.
Rafael Benitez is desperate to bolster his squad in the upcoming January transfer window and is hoping that controversial owner Mike Ashley will release funds, despite trying to sell the club.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Benitez is interested in taking Roofe to St James Park after watching the 25-year-old net 13 goals in 18 appearances for the Championship high flyers.
Roofe moved to Elland Road for just £3 million back in 2016 from Oxford United, but has continued his fine goalscoring form despite taking a huge leap up the footballing pyramid.
His goals have helped fire Leeds to the top of the Championship, where they are looking to make their long-awaited return to the Premier League following their 14-year absence from the top flight.
