Jurgen Klopp is the first manager in the club’s history to really ‘get it’ at Liverpool according to legend Kevin Keegan.
No matter who you support, it’s hard not to like Jurgen Klopp. Whether it be his ‘gegenpress’ style of football, his animated nature on the touchline, or just his personality and sense of humour, the Liverpool boss really is a likeable character.
Not only is he bringing a loveable charm to Merseyside, but he is bringing some exciting, free-flowing, attacking football to Anfield, a style which isn’t just easy on the eye, but is also delivering results, with his side having been installed as one the favourites to finally get their hands on the Premier League title this year.
Liverpool have of course had plenty of legendary managers in their time, but club legend Kevin Keegan thinks that the German is the first since Kenny Dalglish to really align with the clubs values and the local population on every possible level.
“I honestly think since Kenny [Dalglish] finished, which was the end of the Boot Room era which carried on for a lot of years as we know, I think he is the first manager to go there who really does get that football club,” Keegan told SPORTBible.
“His humour is like the Liverpool humour, his passion and the running up and down the touchline.
“He looks like he wants to head and tackle every ball!
“I think the Liverpool fans like that type of manager.
“Bill Shankly was a bit like that and Bob [Paisley] couldn’t run because he had a bit of a limp because of his cartilage problems.
“But they get Jurgen Klopp and, more importantly, Jurgen Klopp gets Liverpool.”
