Karanka: We have to take it game by game

Aitor Karanka has called for caution as he has claimed that his Nottingham Forest side need to take it game by game.

Forest have started the season in fine form and currently sit in 7th place, just outside the playoff positions.

Karanka has previous experience of promotion having guided Middlesbrough to the Premier League, and has stated that his current crop of players have the ability to match their mentality.

However, he is insisting that his players should just focus on the next game.

“It has been a really good break. As I said after the last game, we had time to work on the pitch and also rest a bit, especially mentally in the first week. Then we have had five days to work on the pitch which is very good for us. You have to take advantage of this time in the international break to work.โ€™โ€™ Karanka told his pre-match press conference.

“The way that the players approach training every day is amazing, and not just the players who are playing. Even the players who have played less minutes can be the best on the training ground, so it is good because they know that these kind of weeks are important for us.”

“We are on a good run, we are improving and I think everybody can feel our improvement. We have to keep going and working in the same way to win as many games as possible.

“Now, we do not have another break or time to rest. We need to know that we now have three or four really tough months, with December, Christmas, January, the transfer market and everything.

“I have said always that the game on Saturday, then Villa is the most important, then Ipswich and Preston. We have to take it game by game.”

Forest travel to the KCOM Stadium on Saturday as they face Hull City in a 3pm kick off.
