Nottingham Forest have parted ways with their manager Aitor Karanka it has been announced today.
The Spanish coach was not sacked but instead asked to be released from his contract a club statement revealed.
Former Middlesbrough boss Karanka became Forest boss in January of 2018 and his team started this campaign well, but a loss in form in December saw them fall out of the playoff positions.
Pressure on his position began to grow around Christmas due to alleged arguments behind the scenes and he was widely reported to be about to leave the club on Boxing Day.
Karanka was reasonably popular among the Forest Faithful and supporters had hoped he would bring some much needed stability to the club.
Instead the two time European Champions are now looking for their 11th manager since 2011.
