Real Madrid are said to be considering a move for N’Golo Kante with the Chelsea star reportedly one of three French midfielders on the Spanish giant’s radar this summer.
The club are currently monitoring a host of midfield options as Zinedine Zidane seeks competition and cover for the Casemeiro at the Bernabeu, with Los Blancos having included Kante amongst their primary targets.
According to Spanish publication, AS, Real are desperate to find an alternative to Casemeiro in defensive midfield with the Brazilian having been ‘indispensable’ for the club so far this season, and are looking at the Chelsea midfielder alongside Lille’s Boubakary Soumaré and Rennes teenager Eduardo Camavinga.
The latter is believed to be Real’s first-choice following a stunning breakthrough at the Ligue 1 side, the 17-year-old having established himself as a key figure during the clubs push towards Champions League qualification with a series of mature displays.
Camavinga’s age and potential make him an ideal signing for the long term, though Zidane is also considering a move for compatriot Kante in a bid to bring in a more established figure.
Kante is recognised as arguably the best defensive midfielder in world football having starred for both club and country in recent seasons, winning back-to-back Premier League titles and the World Cup with France in 2018.
The 29-year-old has struggled for fitness so far this season and has often been deployed in a more advanced role at Stamford Bridge of late, and could be open to the prospect of a new challenge after five seasons in English football.
The third name on Real’s list is 21-year-old midfielder Soumaré, a France international at youth level who has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs over the past year.
