N’Golo Kante is claimed to be ready to leave Chelsea at the end of the season and is eyeing a summer move to Real Madrid.
The France international is regarded as one of the finest defensive midfielders in world football and has starred since moving to the Premier League four years ago, firstly winning the title with Leicester before making the switch to Stamford Bridge and repeating the feat a year later.
That season saw Kante named as the PFA Player’s Player of the Year for his performances, whilst the midfielder has also helped Chelsea to FA Cup and Europa League success over the last two seasons.
Kante has been an instrumental figure in those successes and his desire for a new challenge will come as a major blow to Frank Lampard’s plans, with The Sun reporting that the 28-year-old is keen on a move to La Liga and Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants are keen on overhauling their ageing midfield and have been strongly linked with a move for Manchester United‘s Paul Pogba in recent months, though their attentions could now turn to Kante in a deal that would likely cost the club in excess of £100m.
Real manager Zinedine Zidane is believed to be a huge fan of his compatriot’s energy and dynamism, and will now persuade president Florentino Perez to open the cheque book to prise the midfielder away from West London.
Kante’s desire for a change of scenery is likely to also attract interest from elsewhere with Bayern Munich and Juventus also both rumoured as potential destinations, though the former Caen star’s preference is thought to be a switch to Madrid and the Bernabeu.
