N’Golo Kante says Chelsea will need their fans in the second leg of their Carabo Cup semi-final against Spurs.
A Harry Kane penalty has given Chelsea a one goal deficit to overcome if they are to reach Wembley. Kante and his teammates played well for large parts of the game at Wembley and the France international believes his side are still in with a chance despite a disappointing result first leg.
‘The penalty put us in difficulty, we tried to react but we couldn’t score a goal, and that’s why the result is like it is,’ Kante told chelseafc.com.
‘We did a good game, we had a lot of the ball. The statistics show we could have had a better result, but it is what it is. We need to accept that.
‘I think now we can get a better result at Stamford Bridge,’
‘We have more chance in front of our fans. We will need them. We have a match to get to the final and we will give our maximum to do it.’
Kante has enjoyed a regular flow of winner’s medals since arriving in England. Twice a Premier League champion and an FA Cup winner last season, he will be keen to add to his collection.
The Carabo Cup presents a real chance for his team to get some silverware this season. With Chelsea currently tussling Arsenal for fourth place, a cup final would be a huge boost in confidence for Maurizio Sarri’s side. Like Kante, the Italian coach will be hoping the Stamford Bridge faithful can give them a crucial advantage.
