Kane reflects on dream 100th cap for England

Harry Kane has reflected on becoming just the 10th player to reach 100 caps for England.

Kane celebrated a century of appearances for the Three Lions in dream fashion as he scored twice in England’s 2-0 win over Finland. The 31-year-old’s brace maintained England’s perfect start to their Nations League campaign and saw Kane extend his record goal total to 68 at Wembley.

The Bayern Munich forward said he could not imagine winning 100 caps for England during the mixed lower league loan spells earlier in his career but insists he has not lost any of his ‘hunger’ as he aims for success with the national team.

“I don’t think I was even thinking of 100 caps when I was on loan at Millwall, Norwich and Leicester,” said Kane, who was presented with a golden cap.

“From being a young age, from being doubted to go on and do what I have done – I just think that helps keep you focused and motivated in training and games.

Criticism motivates Kane to continue improving

“In general and nowadays as a footballer you’re going to get criticism, you’re going to have people talk about you as a player. I’ve always spoken about when things aren’t going your way using that to motivate you and bring an energy and hunger inside you to go and perform.

“Come October I will be ready to go again.”
