Juventus are set to send scouts to watch Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte in action for Uruguay this week.
Uruguay take on Algeria at Juventus’ Allianz Stadium on Tuesday and the Italian side’s scouts are ready to use the clash as an opportunity to get a close look at Ugarte.
The midfielder is expected to leave Manchester United in the summer having struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford. The 24-year-old has started just seven times in the Premier League and none of the club’s last 10 league fixtures.
United are ready to cut their losses on the £51m recruit and Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Juventus are emerging as an option.
The club’s recruiters will run the rule over Ugarte this week, with sporting director Marco Ottolini a long-term admirer.
Ottolini previously tried to sign the South American prior to his transfer from Sporting Lisbon to former club Paris Saint-Germain. United are open to his exit to raise funds for midfield targets.
