Juventus have held a meeting with the agent of Manchester United star Anthony Martial according to reports in Italy.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding the future of the Frenchman in the last 12 months, especially last summer having hardly featured for United during Jose Mourinho’s first season at the club.

However, despite reports linking him with the likes or Arsenal and PSG, the Portuguese refused to allow the attacker to leave.

He has been used more regularly this season, starting 16 of United’s 29 Premier League games, scoring nine goals and providing six league assists so far.

Just when it seemed like Martial was starting to nail down the place in the starting XI for United, Mourinho went and committed £500,000-a-week to bring Alexis Sanchez to the club, who of course plays in Martial’s preferred wide left position.

However, according to Italian publication Premium Sport, Juventus officials have met with Martial’s agent in order to try to broker a deal.

They claim that former Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved, who is now the club’s vice-president, met with the head of Doyen Sports, Nelio Lucas, in London last week to discuss a potential deal for Martial.

They also claim that United value Martial at €65 million (£57m), which is almost exactly what they paid Monaco for the now 22-year-old back in 2015.

Martial has just over one year remaining on his current deal, although the club do have an option to extend it by a further year.
