Klopp ‘not available’ for Germany job

The agent of Jurgen Klopp has ruled the Liverpool manager out of the running to become Germany’s next head coach.

Germany are assessing candidates to take charge of the national team after Hansi Flick was sacked this week, having overseen just 12 wins from his 25 matches in charge since replacing Joachim Low.

Flick lost four of his final five fixtures to become the first ever Germany manager to be sacked since the role was created in 1926.

Klopp has been named as a potential target for the German FA, ahead of the European Championship which will be hosted in Germany next summer.

There had been a suggestion that the 56-year-old could combine both roles, but Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has ruled the German out of replacing Flick and says he remains committed to Liverpool.

“Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position,” Kosicke told Sportschau.

Rudi Voller has taken over the side on an interim basis and oversaw a 2-1 victory over World Cup finalists France in Dortmund on Tuesday.
