Jorginho’s agent confirms Manchester City agreement

Jorghino’s agent has confirmed that his client had an agreement to join Manchester City this summer, but didn’t end up making the move after City failed to reach an agreement with Napoli.

Jorginho was one of the most sought-after midfielders of the summer, with Chelsea, City, Man Utd and Liverpool all being linked with the Italian international at one stage or another.

He ultimately joined Chelsea in a deal worth around £51 million, with the Premier League champions Man City thought to have been looking to pay around £40m.

The Italian’s agent, Joao Santos, has now revealed that his client had fully agreed personal terms with Pep Guardiola’s side this summer before Chelsea swooped in to seal the deal:

“It was all done with Jorginho [and Manchester City],” Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“There was an agreement [with the player], but there was no agreement between the clubs. All parties have to agree, and one did not.

“Then Chelsea asked what the situation was after Sarri arrived and Jorginho went to London.

“He’s really enjoying it at Chelsea, the team is on a roll and has won four matches out of four. It’s a great start.

“Going to Chelsea was a unique opportunity, the career of a player is very short and now we hope for the best.”
