Jonny Evans has retired from football with the Irishman appointed head of loans and pathways at Manchester United.
Evans has called time on a career that took in two spells at Manchester United, alongside stints Royal Antwerp, Sunderland, West Brom and Leicester City. He made 536 club appearances during a long career and won 107 caps for Northern Ireland.

The 37-year-old’s contract at Manchester United was due to expire on July 1st but Evans has been handed a new role at Old Trafford. He will ‘work closely with director of football Jason Wilcox’ to oversee the club’s loan players and aid progression to the first team.
Evans came through the academy system with the Red Devils and had loan spells with Royal Antwerp and Sunderland before his first-team breakthrough.
In a club statement, Manchester United confirmed the appointment: “Jonny Evans has been appointed head of loans and pathways at Manchester United.
“Evans, who is in the final stages of completing his UEFA A Licence, will lead on loans for United’s young players as well as work closely with director of football, Jason Wilcox, and the director of Academy to further enhance processes which maximise individual player development and prepare young talent to perform in the first team.”
