Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has said promotion to the Premier League ‘would mean everything’ to the club.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won seven consecutive league fixtures and lead the Championship table by three points from nearest challengers Norwich, with West Brom a further three points back in third.
Leeds have played their football outside of English football’s top tier since suffering relegation in the 2003/04 season, and Swedish centre-back Jansson admits the players are aware of what promotion would mean to the club and city.
He said: “Getting us back to the Premier League would mean everything,”
“For me, it would easily be the biggest memory of my life so far. Winning promotion would be like winning the Premier League.
“I’ve been at this club for three years now, so I know the history and what it would mean to the people at the training ground, at the stadium, the fans and the city.”
Leeds next fixture is a clash with Yorkshire rivals Hull City at Elland Road on Saturday.
