Jack Wilshere: ‘I should be in England squad’

Jack Wilshere believes he deserves to be in England’s World Cup squad, and has taken to social media to express his disappointment.

Gareth Southgate made the big announcement on Wednesday on who he would be taking to the FIFA World Cup 2018, with a number of high profile names missing out on his squad.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was one of the big name exclusions from Southgate’s squad, with fears over his fitness seeming to have ended his chances of taking the trip to Russia. Other big names to miss out on the squad included Chris Smalling, Adam Lallana and long-term England number one Joe Hart, who has also responded to the news.

Now with the dust starting to settle on the news, Wilshere has taken to twitter to express his disappointment, as well as saying that he thinks he deserves a seat a place on plane, and of course, in the squad:

“Think its about time I had my say…

“It goes without saying that I’m naturally incredibly disappointed to have been left out of the England squad for the World Cup. I’ve felt fit, sharp and strong all season and believe I should be in the squad! And given the chance i could have made a real inpact [sic].

“However, I have to respect the manager’s decision and would like to wish the whole squad all the very best for the tournament.

“I will always be an England fan and will be supporting the boys with the rest of the nation.”

England kick off their opening game of the tournament on June 18th against Tunisia, before playing Panama and Belgium in their group. You can check out the full World Cup schedule.
