Iwobi: Everyone is buying into Unai Emery’s ideas

Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has said that everyone is buying into the ideas of new manager Unai Emery, despite slipping to a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea.

It would turn out to be one of the most entertaining Premier League games for a while, with Chelsea racing to a 2-0 lead before Arsenal gritted their teeth to get back on terms, in what turned out to be a lesson of how not to defend by both sides.

Chelsea went on to get a second-half winner through Marcos Alonso, leaving Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi to rue a number of missed chances by the Gunners:

“We started shakily, I don’t know, maybe we didn’t know what to do, but we picked ourselves up and got going. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take all our chances,” Iwobi told reporters after the game.

Despite having lost their opening two games of the season, Iwobi said that everyone within the Arsenal squad is buying into Unai Emery’s ideas:

“We were on a high [at half time]. The message was to keep it going, keep our head and don’t lose ourselves. We fought hard for him.

“We enjoy training, everyone is buying into his ideas. It all takes time, a new manager, a new system and the fans and players know that.”
