Inter Milan team news
Inter Milan faces a significant squad selection dilemma as manager Cristian Chivu navigates a growing injury crisis ahead of the clash at San Siro.
The Nerazzurri will be without their captain and star forward, Lautaro Martínez, who remains sidelined until mid-November with a severe hamstring strain picked up in European competition.
Further complicating matters, Brazilian winger Luis Henrique became the latest casualty after sustaining a left thigh adductor strain during Friday’s training session.
French defender Benjamin Pavard is also ruled out as he continues his recovery from his own adductor trouble. To make matters worse, Chivu faces late fitness tests for John Stones, who is battling a hamstring strain, and Curtis Jones, who is managing an adductor injury.
Both players are considered highly doubtful, forcing Inter to rely heavily on squad depth to piece together their starting eleven.
Fiorentina team news
Fiorentina manager Paolo Vanoli is dealing with his own set of selection headaches as his side looks to bounce back from a disappointing recent defeat against Como.
The Viola will travel to Milan without key defensive stability, as central defender Luca Ranieri remains sidelined with ongoing foot discomfort that previously kept him out of action.
Additionally, midfielder Arthur Atta has been ruled out of the travelling squad as he continues to recover from a troublesome bone stress reaction.
The team’s defensive depth takes a further hit with Fabiano Parisi also ruled out of contention due to an unresolved fitness issue.
These collective absences leave Vanoli with fewer options across the backline and midfield, forcing tactical adjustments as Fiorentina prepares for a demanding challenge against the reigning hosts at San Siro.
Form
Inter Milan
Inter Milan enter this match in sensational form, riding a five-match unbeaten league run to sit comfortably at the top of the Serie A standings. The Nerazzurri have displayed sustained attacking efficiency, racking up four wins and one draw in their last five league outings while scoring 21 goals across seven matches. They also secured a gritty 1-0 Champions League win against Shakhtar Donetsk mid-week, carrying immense upward momentum into this weekend’s clash.
Fiorentina
ACF Fiorentina find themselves in contrastingly poor form, languishing under relegation-form pressure down in 18th place. The Viola are currently on a worrying three-game winless streak in the league, including consecutive defeats—a 2-1 loss away at Genoa followed by a disappointing 3-1 home defeat against Como last weekend. With five losses in their first seven games, severe defensive vulnerabilities have left them desperate for a turnaround.
Predicted lineups
Inter Milan: J. Martinez; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Diouf, Barella, Calhanoglu, Zielinski, Dimarco; Thuram, Esposito
Fiorentina: De Gea; Jimenez, Dragusin, Pongracic, Viery; Ndour, Fagioli, Oulai; Mastantuono, Njie; Pellegrino
