Inter linked with a trio of Chelsea players as Conte plots raid on former club

Inter Milan have been linked with moves for three Chelsea players as former boss Antonio Conte plots a raid on the Blues.

The former Italy and Juventus boss has dipped into the English market on a number of occassions over the past 18 months or so, bringing in the likes of Ashley Young, Alexis Sanchez, Christian Eriksen and Romelu Lukaku from the Premier League.

The 51-year-old was handed the job at the San Siro back in 2019 having been sacked by Chelsea at the end of the the 2017/18 season, despite leading the Blues to the title a year earlier.

The current Inter boss now appears set to look to Stamford Bridge in January, with the intention of signing three current Chelsea first-team stars as he looks to mount a successful title challenge in Serie A.

According to Football Italia, Inter are set to move for Olivier Giroud, Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso in the new year, with all three players having been somewhat moved aside by the influx of new faces at the club.

French international Giroud had been in impressive form at the back end of last season, yet the acquisition of former RB Leipzig hotshot Timo Werner has severely hindered his game time, while full-back Marcos Alonso has been nudged down the pecking order after a string of shaky displays as well as the arrival of England international Ben Chilwell in the summer.

As for Emerson, the left-back has struggled for a consistent run in the side ever since his arrival at the club from Roma back in 2018, with Alonso or Cesar Azpilicueta often the preferred choice on the left of the defence under Frank Lampard last season.

The report also suggests that Inter could also make a move for Arkadiusz Milik in January, with the Napoli striker – or Giroud – a potential option as Conte seeks for a back-up to the current striking duo of Lautaro Martinez and Lukaku.
