Injury blow for Man City ahead of Manchester Derby

Manchester City have been dealt a potentially major injury blow ahead of the weekends Manchester Derby.

Pep Guardiola’s side travel across the City to face second place Manchester United in a game where they could extend their lead at the top to a whopping 11 points. However, their hopes of beating United have been handed a blow after the Catalan boss revealed that midfield maestro David Silva is a doubt for the match.

Silva was City’s hero last weekend, scoring the winner against struggling West Ham, but picked up an injury late in the game.

The injury, which Guardiola refused to go into too much detail about, will keep him out of Wednesday’s Champions League tie in the Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Guardiola said:

“I don’t know if he is able to play on Sunday. That’s why he stayed in Manchester to recover”

City have already secured their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, topping Group F after winning all five group games.

Manchester United secured their place in the Champions League knockout stages with a 2-1 win over CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night.

The Manchester Derby kicks off at 16:30 GMT on Sunday afternoon, and you can get all of the big match build up right here at The Football Faithful
