Pogba and Lukaku ‘not good enough’ says former Manchester United midfielder

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has said Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku aren’t good enough to play for the club.

The pair, who were signed for a combined £164 million, were left on the bench for Manchester United‘s recent game against Arsenal in midweek – a game in which the Red Devils put in an energetic and combative performance.

They did emerge from the bench as second-half substitutes as United sought a late winner, but their introduction saw the energy levels dip, with the Gunners looking the most likely to score towards the end.

Speaking about the game, former United and Liverpool midfielder Ince doesn’t think that the duo are fit for purpose.

“It feels like every time I speak about Man United, it’s about Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku. I’m getting bored of them both,” Ince told Paddy Power.

“Against Arsenal, the game was quite exciting and fun – which is rare for United at the minute – until those two came on the pitch.

“It wasn’t necessarily top class football on display, but it was enjoyable, and that’s all the fans wanted.

“The big decision for Jose Mourinho now is whether he keeps the same side for the Fulham game.

“He keeps chopping and changing it, and I can see why.

“He did the right thing in dropping Pogba and Lukaku, they don’t seem remotely interested, and they’re just not good enough.”
