Southampton boss Mark Hughes has admitted it is going to be very difficult for his side to stop an in form Eden Hazard when Chelsea travel to St Mary’s tomorrow afternoon.
Hazard has started this season in blistering form scoring six goals and providing two assists in just seven Premier League appearances.
The Belgium international is the key reason why many are tipping the Blues to put on an unexpected title charge this season and when asked how Hazard ranKS amongst the best in the World, former Manchester United and Chelsea striker Hughes revealed he thinks it is only once a player hangs up his boots that his career can be truly judged.
“Debates of that type of probably better made when he’s a bit older and he’s got grey hair like me and everybody can discuss the merits once everybody’s finished, but he’s an outstanding player. You look at his stats this year and he’s had an impact in almost every game he’s played in,” Hughes told his pre-match press conference.
“The key is, if you can, to stop their key players having opportunities. It’s very difficult in the Premier League to stop an opposition team from having absolutely no chances in a game.
“It’s very, very rare in the Premier League, so we’ve just got to hope that the chances they do create fall to someone other than Hazard and hopefully they have an off day.”
