Musiala has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents since joining Bayern Munich, where he has scored 58 goals in 194 appearances and won four Bundesliga titles.
Manchester City and Real Madrid had been named as admirers of the 21-year-old, but he has ended speculation over his future with a new deal at the Allianz Arena.
However, Sky Germany have revealed that the new contract contains a release clause. From this summer until the 2029 January transfer window, clubs will need to pay a fee of โฌ175m (ยฃ145.5m) to sign the Germany international.
That fee will decrease to โฌ100m (ยฃ83.2m) from the 2029 summer transfer window until the end of his contract in 2030. Musiala will be 26 years old when the release clause drops to the lower figure.
The insertion of a release clause opens up the prospect of a future move for the player, with England or Spain the likeliest destinations. Musiala spent eight years in the academy system at Chelsea before his move to Bayern in 2019. He also represented England at various age groups before pledging his international allegiance to Germany.
