Howe: Ake interest a good sign for Bournemouth

Eddie Howe has said that any interest in Nathan Ake is a good sign that he is playing well, but has said that the Dutch youngster will not let the speculation affect his ‘good character’.

Ake moved to Bournemouth from Chelsea back in 2016, initially on loan before making the move permanent the following year, playing every single Premier League game last season for the Cherries.

His good form for the South Coast club has seen some speculation linking him with the likes of Spurs and Manchester United, who are both on the lookout for a new central defender, and speaking to the media today, Eddie Howe has said it is a good sign of his progress that he is being linked with a move away from the Vitality Stadium:

“Nathan Ake being linked away is a good sign that he’s doing well, but that doesn’t mean we’re about to lose him. He’s such a good character so it won’t affect him,” Howe said at his press conference.

Bournemouth host South Coast rivals Southampton at 3pm on Saturday.
