Report: Higuain to complete Chelsea transfer in next 48 hours

Gonzalo Higuian will arrive in London for a medical and to complete the formalities of his transfer to Chelsea in the next 48 hours.

It was widely expected that the 31-year-old striker would travel to England today, and it had even been suggested that he could be available to feature in Chelsea’s crunch Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow.

However, the Guardian are now reporting that the deal will be finalised sometime over the next couple of days, with the Argentina international joining Chelsea on loan from Juventus until the end of the season, with an option to extend the deal by a further year.

Higuain enjoyed some of the best form of his career working with current Blues boss Maurizio Sarri at Napoli and the Italian coach has been keen to link back up with the prolific frontman since last summer.

During the 2015/2016 season Higuain netted a sensational 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances for Napoli, which earned him a £80 million move to Juventus, where he won successive Scudetto’s.

However, Juventus sent him out on loan to AC Milan last summer to accommodate the mega money signing of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Serie A Champions have agreed to terminate that deal with Milan and have allowed the player to move to West London. Chelsea will be hopeful that the talented striker can spearhead a successful end to Sarri’s first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
