Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has praised caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, saying that he would appoint the Norwegian as manager on a permanent basis if it were up to him.
Solskjaer replaced the sacked Jose Mourinho back in December and has overseen a huge turnaround in form. Manchester United are unbeaten in the 12 league fixtures he has been in charge and have climbed into the Champions League places.
Speaking on Solskjaer, Spanish midfield Ander Herrera was full of praise for the former United striker’s impact since arriving at Old Trafford.
“If I was sporting director of a club tomorrow, I would sign Ole. But I respect the people that take the decisions and I’m not going to say what they should do,” Herrera told FourFourTwo magazine.
“Ole has a quality that is difficult to have in football, which is to have the affection of all the players – the players who play and the ones who don’t play as much.
“I don’t know how he did it, but he had that click with players who can change games. He’s clicked with Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.”
