Henry’s Monaco enter the race for Chelsea midfielder Fabregas

Thierry Henry wants to take Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Monaco.

The Spanish midfielder’s contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of the season, and having fallen behind summer signing Jorginho in the pecking order for Maurizio Sarri’s side, Fabregas may leave the club in search of more regular playing opportunities.

Henry is looking to strengthen a Monaco side which has struggled this season, the principality club are in the relegation places in Ligue 1 having been crowned French champions as recently as the 2016/17 season.

The Frenchman played with Fabregas during his playing career and both Arsenal and Barcelona, and The Standard are reporting Henry is hoping his personal relationship with the player can persuade the 31-year-old to join him in France.

Fabregas will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs from January, having entered the final six months of his contract.

The midfielder has been with Chelsea since arriving from Barcelona for £30m in 2014, having previously spent eight years at cross-town rivals Arsenal.
