Jordan Henderson is open to a move to Chelsea this summer as the West Londoners target a move for the Brentford midfielder.
Xabi Alonso is keen to add experience to his youthful squad with Henderson and Brighton forward Danny Welbeck emerging as shock targets.
Henderson made 32 appearances in the Premier League for Brentford last season, after signing from Ajax on a free transfer. However, the Bees are prepared to let the 36-year-old leave as a free agent this summer, with relations between player and club strong.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Henderson is receptive to the move to Chelsea. The midfielder is keen on the prospect of working with Alonso at Stamford Bridge and helping lead an inexperienced dressing room. He has close relationships with several names in the Chelsea dressing room, notably new record recruit Morgan Rogers.
Henderson has made 463 appearances in his Premier League career to date and captained Liverpool to the title during the 2019/20 season. He won eight trophies across 12 seasons at Anfield and this summer became the first-ever Englishman to feature at four World Cup tournaments.
Brighton forward Welbeck is also open to a transfer to Chelsea. The 35-year-old scored 13 league goals last season and has just 12 months to run on his contract.
