The father of Eden Hazard has said he doubts his son will ever make his dream move to Real Madrid now.
The Chelsea winger was thought to be a £200 million target for the European champions following the £100m departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus earlier this summer.
Hazard cast doubt on his own future following his involvement in the World Cup by suggesting he wanted to finally leave Stamford Bridge.
However, his father has now cast doubt as to whether the move will ever happen:
“I cannot say why it did not go through. Not because I do not want to but because I do not know,” Thierry Hazard has said in quotes carried by the Mirror.
“Next year, Eden will have one year left on his contract but perhaps he never ends up in Madrid.”
His father also suggested that if Zinedine Zidane was still the manager at the Bernabeu, then the move may still have happened:
“It maybe that it was a different story with Zidane.
“But then he will have had his reasons to leave.”
