Belgium attacker Eden Hazard showed little sympathy for teammate Thibaut Courtois after the Real Madrid goalkeeper’s recent howler against Russia in the Euro Qualifiers.
With the Red Devils having taken an early lead through Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans, former Chelsea ‘keeper Courtois made a mess of trying to play out from the back, allowing Russia midfielder Denis Cheryshev to draw the scores level.
Belgium talisman Hazard would score twice though to save the 26-year-old’s blushes, and the Chelsea star joked afterward that his former teammate at Stamford Bridge had been trying to imitate him with his failed dribble.
“Thibaut Courtois watches a lot of videos of my actions and then he tries to copy me,” Hazard told reporters after the game.
“The problem is: he is much taller than me, so it isn’t that easy.”

Courtois upset Chelsea fans last summer by forcing through a move to Real Madrid, but things have not quite gone to plan for the Belgian ‘keeper in the Spanish capital, where he has been heavily criticised by the Spanish press, and he was recently dropped for Zinedine Zidane’s first game back in charge of Los Blancos.
