Chelsea have been dealt a major injury blow with the news that star attacker Eden Hazard is not fit enough to even be named in their squad for today’s Premier League clash against Burnley at Turf Moor.
The Belgium international has started the season in blistering from scoring seven goals and providing three assists in nine top flight appearances, although he missed the Blues Europa League fixture against BATE Borisov on Thursday with a back injury.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri admitted that his side will miss their mercurial playmaker against Sean Dyche’s Clarets, but revealed that he is hopeful some of the Blues other attacking players can step up in the 27-year-old’s absence.
“Hazard is really very important for us but today we have to play without him. I think we are able to play without him, we have some other very good players.” Sarri told Sky Sports.
Sarri has made eight changes from the side who faced BATE, with hat-trick hero Ruben Loftus-Cheek starting on the bench.
Chelsea will move up to second in the Premier League table if they beat Burnley this afternoon.
