Erling Haaland has set his sights on FA Cup success this weekend as Manchester City look to salvage a ‘horrific season’.
City’s four-year reign as Premier League champions came to an end in 2024/25, after Liverpool won the title.
Pep Guardiola’s side are a distant fourth in the table and face a battle to secure Champions League qualification. The Citizens also crashed out of the Champions League in the play-off round.

However, this weekend offers an opportunity to secure silverware. City take on Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley, their third straight season in the decider.
Speaking ahead of the clash with the Eagles, Haaland admitted this season has been ‘tough’ at the Etihad. He hopes a successful day at Wembley can be a silver lining in an otherwise ‘boring’ and ‘horrific’ season.
“This season has been tough,” he told BBC Sport. “It is not nice to lose so many games. It is boring and not fun. That’s why we need to finish well and get a trophy.
“It is a good habit to reach Wembley and always important to win trophies. We have the FA Cup final to play for and in a horrific season we still managed to do this.”
City are aiming to win the FA Cup for an eighth time this weekend. Their opponents, Crystal Palace, are bidding to win a first-ever major trophy. The Eagles have twice lost FA Cup finals previously, to Manchester United in 1990 and 2016.
