Haaland hails ‘special’ season as Man City celebrate title

Erling Haaland has hailed a special first season at Manchester City after the club were crowned Premier League champions.

City were presented with the Premier League trophy following the club’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at the Etihad, with their status as champions confirmed after nearest challengers Arsenal lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now won five of the last six Premier League titles in a period of dominance as the division’s leading side.

Haaland has been an inspirational figure in City’s latest title success, in what has been a record-breaking debut season in English football.

The Norway international has scored a record 36 goals in the Premier League and expressed his delight at ending the campaign with a Premier League winners’ medal.

“It is unreal. I don’t know what to say. I am so happy,” Haaland told Sky Sports.

“These are the memories I will remember for the rest of my life. I don’t know what to say.

“It is special. I am going to enjoy this day. It is amazing.

“Debut season, 36 goals, Premier League trophy and two more finals to come. Not bad.”
