Viktor Gyokeres has said he is feeling ‘very good’ after returning to goalscoring form at Arsenal.
Gyokeres scored once and created another as Arsenal beat Slavia Prague 2-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Gyokeres’ goal followed an effort against Fleetwood in the EFL Cup, as the Swedish striker has bounced back from a tough start to the season.
The 28-year-old has found himself out of favour at Arsenal this season, but hopes his latest showing can earn him more minutes going forward. After picking up the man-of-the-match award for the Gunners in Prague, Gyokeres said he is feeling confident.
“I feel very good. Obviously, I’m happy with the win and to contribute to the two goals,” he said.
“So, a good feeling in the first half – and then obviously in the second half, with how that went, maybe the feeling isn’t as good right now. But overall, if you look at the first half, it’s a good feeling.
“It’s my job as a striker and of course I want to contribute every game when I’m on the pitch and want to be involved as much as I can in attacks. Today felt very good, like I said, especially in the first half.
“So far we’ve had a good run in the Champions League and in the league as well.
“At the stage we’re in right now, we’re in a good spot, but I think we’re all clear on what we can improve and what we need to do to take the next step.”
